This lesson explores the importance of hair and relationship with identity within the Sikh, Black and Indigenous Communities.

This lesson uses three mentor texts, Hair Twins, Hair Love and Siha Tooskin Knows the Strength of His Hair to explore ways in which hair and identity are related. Further, it examines the role traditions play in our lives.

Focus Question.

  • How does hair connect various communities and build connections and inclusivity?

  • How do traditions connect families and friends?
