Event Coordinator
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Administrative Assistant to assist in organizing and coordinating events for Sikh Heritage Month 2026. This position will provide administrative support, handle communications, and assist with financial administration. The role is funded through the Canada Summer Jobs program.
Position: Event Coordinator
Location: Hybrid – Lower Mainland
Salary: $17.85/ hour
Employment Type: Temporary, Full-time (30 hours/ week) from June 22 - Aug 30, 2025
Responsibilities:
1. Administrative Support:
Manage emails and general inquiries related to Sikh Heritage Month 2025.
Maintain records and assist in document preparation.
2. Event Coordination:
Assist in organizing and coordinating events, workshops, and meetings for Sikh Heritage Month 2026.
Draft relevant written materials relating to SHM2026.
Collaborate with the teams to book venues, performers, and presenters.
3. Communication:
Draft and edit content for newsletters, press releases, social media, and website materials.
4. Financial Administration:
Support financial processes, including expense tracking and basic budget monitoring.
Collaborate with the finance team for accurate record-keeping.
Requirements:
To apply for this job, you must:
Be between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job.
Be enrolled in a Canadian Post Secondary Institution.
Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN).
Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
Note: International students and other temporary residents of Canada are not eligible.
Qualifications:
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.
Experience in event planning or coordination is an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
