Daya Karho: Displays of Compassion ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ: ਦਿਆਲਤਾ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨ

  • Surrey City Hall 13450 104 Ave, Surrey, BC V3T 1V8, Canada Surrey, BC, V4N 6G7 Canada (map)

Daya (ਦਇਆ), a fundamental teaching of the Sikh philosophy, is a path to tranquility by ‘feeling for another’. While the inspiration behind this path may be unifying, each individual’s definition, and the way they express kindness is different, and personal.
This immersive experience explores our relationship with Daya, and how to be compassionate in an increasingly acrimonious world. This is ਦਇਆ ਕਰਹੁ, Daya Karho.

What does Daya mean to you?
Why do you exercise Daya?
How do you continue to be Dayalu in today’s world?
These questions are for the artists to answer through their work, and to guide them as they showcase work centred around their understanding of Daya. These questions will also be presented to the audiences as they enter the gallery space, for them to contemplate the importance of this concept in their lives
